3 Things to do When Life Throws You Curveballs

We can have the best intentions on things but oftentimes LIFE gets in the way. It hands us things we aren’t expecting. It tries to throw us a curveball to strike us out.

We originally planned to launch SisterUp in May 2016. But then life happened. Miscarriages, births, deaths, sickness, new jobs, travels, etc.

We can have the best intentions on things but oftentimes LIFE gets in the way. It hands us things we aren’t expecting. Here are three ways to swing back at life even when the biggest curve ball is thrown:

1) Focus on What You Can Control – One of the hardest things about being thrown a curveball is that you feel like you’ve lost control. And, it is probably true. But instead of focusing on what you can’t control, focus on what you can control.

Example: You can’t control getting laid off. But, you can control how you take that and create something great out of it. Maybe it’s the opportunity you’ve needed to finally start that side business you’ve always wanted.

2) Take the Time to Grieve and Then Put your Focus Into Where you Want to Be – SisterUp has been a dream for us for a long time. We were so excited to get it launched because we know there are a lot of women that need these tools, just like us! But first we had to help ourselves. When the unexpected happens, take the time you need to grieve, and then keep moving forward. We had to push back our launch of SisterUp. But we kept talking every day and kept the momentum of the business going.

3) Ask for Help and Get Back in the Game – If you are anything like me, you don’t like asking for help. But sometimes, more than not, we need someone else to help move us forward. If you are struggling to get back in the game ask a family member or friend to help keep you accountable or give you ideas for how to move forward. Often times outsiders can see things we have a hard time seeing.
